Intel makes USB 3.0 specifications available to other companies, ends drama

Intel has released the draft 0.9 of the USB 3.0 specifications to other manufacturers such as AMD and NVIDIA. The specifications ensure that all parties are implementing a compatible version of USB 3.0, otherwise, consumers might find themselves with incompatible motherboards and devices. If you have missed the previous drama, AMD and NVIDIA were threatening to develop their own version of USB 3.0 if Intel did not disclose the information soon. External companies suspected that Intel wanted to get an edge on the development of USB 3.0 by delaying the release of the specifications. Intel says that it was simply still working on the specifications and that it did not want to release a work in progress.

I don’t know what the truth is but I certainly know that it’s good to be the one writing the specifications.
