In commemoration of the Olympics, Samsung has rolled out the SGH-i688 that is powered by Windows Mobile 6.0 and supports China’s domestic 3G standard, TD-SCDMA (time-division synchronous code-division multiple access). What makes this handset so special is the ability to connect to a “Wireless Olympic Works” (WOW) network that boasts real-time schedules, results, weather information, email, and instant messaging to Olympic officials. Hardware specifications are pretty much kept hush-hush, although we do know this comes with a 2.8″ touch screen display and a Chinese version of Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional. It features Chinese handwriting recognition and a FM receiver, to boot. No idea on the price though.
