Word has it that the second generation of the Amazon Kindle will be a radical departure from the original, with various insider sources touting a thinner model that comes in a more attractive form factor. Of course, looks isn’t everything for a device like the Kindle, which means consumers will be able to benefit from a better display technology, and the changes will feel more like a jump from Generation One to Generation Four or Five instead of slow progression. This larger-display Kindle is set to roll out within the next few months, and might even retail for less than $300 to boost sales. The current Kindle is priced at $360, which explains why not everybody has one just yet.
