Small progress towards invisibility

Scientists are still far from achieving invisibility or even a predator-like cloaking, but researchers from Berkeley led by Prof. Xiang Zhang have created a material that has some light-bending properties. In theory, this could lead to a cloaking material that could camouflage a person. In the meantime, what they have is measured in billionths of a meter (nano-scale). Anyway, the idea is to “transport” the light around the object.

This is a huge step forward, a tremendous achievement (Professor Ortwin Advanced Technology Institute at the University of Surrey)

A similar project was started by the U.S military after a general saw the movie “Predator” and said : “I want that!”.
