There is one major drawback when it comes to portable electronics – you don’t have access to a power outlet all the time wherever you go, and sometimes, you will need adapters to cater for different areas of the globe you’re at. With the solar-powered PowerPlus Toucan, all that hassle is thrown out of the window since we use the same sun no matter where we are. This portable media player comes with a 2″ display and a solar panel, but it makes me wonder just how efficient this thing is in storing energy while basking under the sun. Hopefully it is made up of sterner stuff than cheap plastic, since I would hate to leave this $160 device on my car dashboard to charge under the unforgiving Las Vegas sun, only to return and find it melted and fused to my car.
