Toshiba wants to do their bit for the environment by announcing a new range of LCD TVs and notebooks at IFA 2008, where the new Toshiba 42XV515D will feature smarter inside parts that helps it reduce the amount of backlights required without sacrificing on quality, thanks to an ‘advanced brightness control’ technique. This technique sips less juice that will go a long way in lowering your monthly power bill if you’re a heavy TV user. In addition, the 42XV515D is also 19% lighter than the 2006 predecessor. As for the Portégé R500 series, this updated model will come with more energy efficient features that will help reduce CO2 emissions by 69g a day.
