If you have yet to pick up an Xbox 360 of any kind (gasp!), hold off your purchase at least until September, as word has gone out that the Xbox 360 60GB model will receive a $50 price drop to $299 while the Elite bundle gets a similar price cut, ending up at the sub-$400 mark, just. As for those who want the Xbox 360 Arcade (this one doesn’t come with a hard drive of any kind), it will retail for a mere $199. Will such low prices see the Xbox 360 beat out the PS3 when it comes to NPD monthly sales data at the end of October? Only time will tell, but I sure hope there is more than enough units to go around the world since the Xbox 360 is completely sold out in Japan as well. The battle for second spot remains interesting, that’s for sure.
