
Acer isn’t content to be where it is at this point in time, and wants a slice of the smartphone pie sometime in Q1 2009. It plans to launch its own-brand smartphones then in Western Europe and Russia, followed by other markets throughout the world assuming all goes well. Acer hopes that the smartphone business is able to be a growth driver within three years, but they seem to forget one important aspect – it is the software these days that move the hardware, and not the other way round. Hopefully Acer will bet on the right horse where their smartphone business is concerned.
