DirecTV has plans to release a new TiVo-powered high-def DVR sometime in the second-half of next year, and it will improve upon its 2004 predecessor, the DirecTiVo, by being able to receive the DirecTV’s whole gamut of digital and high-def channels. Very little is still known about the new HD TiVo DVR, other than the fact that it will “support the latest TiVo and DirecTV features and services, including TiVo’s Universal Swivel Search and TiVo KidZone”. It would be interesting to see whether the user interface has been improved upon compared to the sluggish predecessor. DirecTV subscribers, will you pick up this second-gen DirecTiVo when it is available?
