Medtronic aims to help reduce the risk of accidents caused by diabetes by developing a dashboard mounted device that will work in tandem with a glucose monitor that is able to track the driver’s blood sugar levels, using a wireless sensor that performs a reading analysis every few minutes. Once the blood sugar reading drops below an acceptable level, the dashboard unit will then emit an audio warning to prompt the driver to stop. Too bad this won’t force the driver to pull over by automatically limiting the speed of the vehicle or anything like that – it instead will rely on the driver’s good conscience to do the responsible and right thing.
