LG is currently mass producing 17.1″ LCD panels for notebooks that feature RGB LED backlight technology, making it the first in the industry to do so. Relying on LED lamps to power the backlight, LG managed to achieve a color reproduction rate of up to 105%, which has 40% more colors and 30% better contrast ratio compared to standard CCFL models. Not only that, the product itself is not detrimental to nature as it is mercury-free, leading to less headaches when you want to dispose of it. It would be interesting to see the price points of notebooks that bear this new LED backlight LCD display. Will it be the next selling point?
