Nissan has taken a leaf out of nature’s book with their new Biometric Car Robot Drive, featuring 300-degree vision via compound eyes and instantaneous reflexes just like bees. This allows the robot to navigate around obstacles, and will eventually translate this technology into a new generation of crash-avoidance systems in its cars, helping make roads a much safer place. The technology won’t make it into next year’s Nissan models, that’s for sure, but it is encouraging to see efforts being stepped up to reduce the number of fatalities on the road due to human error and carelessness.
