Pedometer To Hit Nintendo Products?

Word has it that Nintendo is currently working on a pedometer, although it is really hard to see how one is going to include a pedometer into everyday gameplay. Having one that connects to the DS would be nice, since the DS is portable and all, but judging by the design of this thing, it doesn’t look as though it will come with the connectors to hook up via the DS’ Slot-2. Perhaps this will be yet another fitness-related game accessory for the Wii, but that’ll only be super effective if you’re walking on a treadmill or something similar, right?
