Sanyo has recently announced the successor to the first generation waterproof Xacti E1 in the form of the Xacti E2. Not too imaginative on the naming front, but it is a logical choice. This device maintains the same ability to work at a maximum depth of 5 feet for an hour at most. It also features a similar design (where’s the imagination?) and records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, although there is an improvement in the recording which is now capable of hitting 60 frames per second while capturing 8-megapixel still photos thanks to its 10fps sequential shooting capability. The very useful Face detection/tracking.technology is also included to help preserve your next family reunion in a digital format. The Sanyo Xacti E2 will retail for $399.99 and is available in either brilliant blue or pearlescent white colors.
