Word has it that T-Mobile is finally ready to introduce the G1 smartphone sometime later this month at a special event in the Big Apple, and pundits are placing their bets on September 23rd as the preferred date. Neither company has stepped forward to confirm or refute that auspicious day, so we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed. The September debut would be perfect to build up anticipation for a brisk holiday sales season as the handset could be launched in November under the T-Mobile banner. Hopefully the Google Chrome browser for the Android platform will be ready by then, seeing that this smartphone boasts Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.
