Third Arm Concept

Stelarc has come up with the Third Arm concept that functions as an artifical hand connected to the right arm as an addition instead of a prosthetic replacement. The Third Arm is independent and capable of its own motion, moving via EMG signals sent from abdominal and leg muscles. Fit me with another three of these and I’ll be some sort of pseudo-Dr. Octopus. Features include a pinch-release, grasp-release, 290 degree wrist rotation (both in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions) and a tactile feedback system that functions as a rudimentary “sense of touch”. Too bad this is but a concept, as I would like to see this materialize someday.
