Toshiba is first off the blocks to release a dual-platter 240GB hard drive of the 1.8″ variety, and this model will accompany the single-platter 120GB hard drive from the MKxx31GAL series. This new 1.8″ hard drive will rely on new mechanical and firmware design that offers enhanced durability which makes it suitable for smaller mobile devices such as PC applications and digital video camcorders. Both of them use up to 67% energy compared to the previous model, and they spin much faster as well at 4,200rpm compared to the old 3,600rpm. With 8MB of cache, you get better read and write performance no matter the application.
