XO Laptop Runs On Windows

Microsoft and OLPC have announced the first official XO laptops that are powered by Windows, making a rather drastic shift away from the Sugar/Linux platform. Not all XO laptops will move towards Windows in the future though, as both will still remain as dual boot options in the meantime. Peru will be the first country in the world to receive these Windows-powered laptops thanks to the OLPC program, and it is hoped that kids won’t use these to start a local Hearts or Minesweeper league, instead using them to pick up essential skills such as word processing and spreadsheets that will go a long way in helping them improve their quality of life as they grow up.
