What you see on the right is a leaked image of the upcoming Amazon Kindle, and it looks set to sell more than its predecessor due to the improvements introduced. Despite being housed in a somewhat similarly sized chassis, you get a high visibility e-paper display, speaker vents, a touch strip on the side for easy menu selection, 1.5GB of internal memory and a mini USB port. Too bad the SD memory card slot has been ditched – would’ve been nice to see Amazon retain that. As with its predecessor, the Kindle 2 is tipped to access most of its library via a Sprint-based EVDO connection. No idea on when it will arrive, but it will most probably miss the Christmas season later this year.
