Solyndra has developed cylindrical solar panels that are touted to generate more energy and is much easier to install on roofs and big buildings. What makes the form factor all the more desirable is the fact that you can have an array of solar cylinders within a smaller built-up area, increasing the energy output considerably compared to using traditional flat solar panels. This is made possible using curved solar panels constructed from thin semiconductor sheets fixed to a glass tube.
