We’ve told you that disk access performance was one of the biggest bottleneck in today’s computers but DosPara might have taken this issue a bit too seriously: the DosPara Prime has six Intel X25-M SSD working as a single logical disk unit (Windows sees them as one hard drive) that’s 480GB big, with an insane read speed of 1120MB/s (about 6x200Mbps). The rest of the system has nothing out of the ordinary: Dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM, GeForce 9600.
I estimate that it costs $4800 to $5500to build a similar system, while the DosPara is sold at $9340. At least, they could tell us how fast Windows Vista boots…
