Hardworking Robot From Toyota

Toyota has managed to develop a prototype with a research body from the University of Tokyo that could fulfil the long time dream of us humans – a 155cm robot that is able to help out with household chores. This 130kg robot is able to distinguish and perceive various objects including furniture and cleaning equipment, and armed with a pair of arms, five recognition cameras and laser sensors, it moves around on wheels to help keep your place spic and span. The robot is also smart enough to analyze its past failures so that behavior patterns can be corrected to prevent future accidents. In a demonstration, this robot was able to put away dishes from a dining table, picking up your laundry and placing them in the washing machine. We wonder whether it is better (and cheaper) to just get some human domestic help instead in the long run.
