OpenMoko, the open source handset manufacturer, will be working on a new handset known as GTA02 from November onwards that will run on the Android platform. It will be somewhat similar to the Neo FreeRunner, utilizing a 400MHz to 500MHz processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB flash memory, assisted GPS and a laser pen – presumably to double up as a presentation device. Let’s see – Motorola and Asus are already working on Android phones, so it would be interesting to see others like Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and even Nokia join the party if they want to.
