Quantenna Chips To Boost Wi-Fi Signals

Quantenna Communications have developed a trio of chipsets that will boost Wi-Fi signals using a minimal footprint, and this could prove to be the solution that makes uneven Wi-Fi coverage a thing of the past. In addition, the chipsets’ design also aims to avoid interferences from other devices that work in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, courtesy of a dual-band chip and MIMO technology. When mass produced, these chips will retail for $20 a pop (double that amount if you opt for the dual-band chip), with the ultimate goal of creating tiny and affordable Wi-Fi boosters that can be plugged into walls to augment existing Wi-Fi signals over the network. Look out for these to hit the market in the middle of next year. I suppose this is useful for folks living in large houses, but cramped apartments definitely do not need these.
