Nice to see educational toys these days being able to keep up with the times via firmware and software updates, case in point the interactive SmartGlobe from Oregon Scientific. Unlike globes of yore that need to be purchased anew each time there is some geographical change, the SmartGlobe can be updated weekly via information updates online for up-to-date geographic knowledge. Other features consist of :-
- Interactive lessons
- 30 English and six Spanish activities
- Quizzes about countries, capitals, major cities, populations, languages, currencies, time, distances, history, science and current events
- Smart Pen accessory
Too bad the SmartGlobe works with Windows PCs only and not Macs. Perhaps Mac users are way too smart for the $129.95 SmartGlobe?
