Microsoft has announced on the next Windows was going to be called Windows 7. This is not really a surprise, as this was the codename for this 7th version of Windows, but from a branding perspective, it marks a new change - most likely for the better. First, it might be less confusing for “new customers” and secondly, instead of having people saying “XP” or “Vista” they will say “Windows” – This is about “brand dilution”. Do you think that this will positive, negative or neither?
Now, Microsoft “just has to” make Vista more exciting. I think that boot time was high on the list, so we will see what Microsoft has to announce tomorrow.
