Last week, we were mentioning that Blockbuster might launch its video-on-demand (VOD) solution imminently. That’s now done. The Blockbuster set-top box is now official and here’s what you get:
- 2000 movies available
- 1.99 rental price
- 30 days to watch a movie after the order
- 24 hours once the movie has been started
- WIFI connectivity
- HD Capable (when movies are available)
- (no pricing for the box itself)
Movies can be downloaded into the set-top box, which is good because NetFlix is not very good at delivering on demand video without having long buffering times. Apparently, Blockbuster won’t stop here as it is said to consider streaming to Xbox and PlayStation 3 consoles as well.
