Forget about getting grandad a new iPod this Christmas – a recent study presented by a group of researchers to the American Heart Association have stated that tiny earbuds which accompany MP3 players (including the iPod) might be detrimental to folks with pacemakers and defibrillators. The research showed that 25% of the patients were affected whenever earbuds were placed within 1.2″ of each device, and the interference level was double that of pacemakers in defibrillators. Moral of the story is this – keep earbuds away from your chest unless you want to run the risk of collapsing suddenly when grooving to your favorite track on the iPod.
