The newly launched Nintendo DSi managed to move a stunning 170,779 units during its first two days on sale in Japan. This revamped DS Lite adds new features while dropping some of the old guard, and is currently going for ¥16,800 there – loosely translating to $165. Most stores had enough stock just to cover reservations, so plenty of people had to go home empty handed. With the Sony PSP sitting pretty at the top of Japanese hardware sales charts for a few months now, it would be interesting to see whether the DSi has enough momentum to dislodge the PSP off its lofty perch for months to come, or will those sales figures peter out after a while.
