Sagem Orga will be working with BlueSky Positioning to integrate a-GPS technology into a SIM card directly, which would definitely go a long way in retro-fitting older handsets with this functionality. It would be interesting to see what the impact would be like on battery life, and we suppose only a select number of previously non-GPS capable phones will be able to support this new SIM card since there are other limitations to think about – compatible GPS navigation software, a color display with high enough resolution and others. Sagem Orga has plans to distribute this new SIM card to telecommunications companies worldwide.
