The FCC has just approved Alereon’s AL5708 PCI-Express half-minicard that will target notebook owners, meeting worldwide regulatory standards that operate from 3.1 to 10.6GHz spectrums. Alereon’s CEO is confident that this embedded notebook solution is able to touch a whopping 140Mbps (17.5MB/s) when talking to a native device, and it also holds the honor of being the only solution to support bi-directional, isochronous data transfers – perfect for proper USB speakers and webcam support. Shipping of the AL5708 WUSB mini card will begin sometime in the first quarter of next year.
