At long last, the Archos 5 has received its firmware 1.2.05 that offers a function that should’ve been included right from the start – an email application. While the beta version shipped with the device worked, it isn’t exactly stable to begin with. This new release version weeds out all the niggling problems, and does not crash any more whenever you send out an email, while messages have the illusion of loading a wee bit faster – we can’t really tell. The new interface has been optimized for finger use, and setting up multiple email accounts is a no-brainer. Good news for folks who depend on Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, as those are already preconfigured, although you will need to do some tweaking with your IMAP and POP3 accounts.
