BlackBerry Application Suite Announced

At long last, the Windows Mobile platform might actually get a revival from one of its chief competitors – RIM. The BlackBerry Application Suite has just been announced, and it will be able to run on selected Windows Mobile 6.x Pro devices, allowing users to play with the BlackBerry shell on their smartphone instead of subjecting themselves to laggy Windows Mobile 6.x performance. This virtual environment will boast support for BlackBerry email, phone, calendar, address book, tasks, memos, browser and instant messaging, in addition to other applications developed for the BlackBerry platform. You won’t get video playback though, but that’s not too big a deal if you’re more of a business executive. This application suite can also hook up to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for synchronization. No idea on when RIM will roll out the BlackBerry Application Suite, but we’re betting our bottom dollars that you will require a rather beefy processor in your device to run this smoothly.
