CES 2009 Sees Intel Convertible Classmate PC Debut

CES 2009 is just slightly more than a couple weeks’ time, and it is there where Intel will roll out its Convertible Classmate PC, where it will start shipping to eager beavers from the middle of next month onwards. Inside this neat little piece of adult-oriented device, you will find a 180 degree swivel webcam, an 8.9″ display with touchscreen capability, a 60GB hard drive (would be nice to see at least an 80 gigger thrown in) and Windows XP Home as the operating system of choice – all of it powered by an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor. Since value is in the software these days, it comes as no surprise that the Convertible Classmate PC comes with tons of software that will take full advantage of the touchscreen, including Vision Objects Pen Input that translates handwriting into editable text complete with a virtual keyboard. Intel also has plans to work with software vendors so that their future laptops will come pre-loaded with a bunch of touch focused applications. Are you looking forward to this new netbook?
