Curse Of Silence Exploit On Nokia S60 Phones

There has been a serious vulnerability that has been discovered on Nokia S60 phones that actually blocks all incoming messages, be it SMS or MMS. This is touted to be a “Remote SMS/MMS Denial of Service” and has also been dubbed the Curse of Silence. This exploit can be carried out simply by sending a basic, carefully tweaked SMS to any S60-based Nokia handset, including S60 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 and 3.1 devices. There is no cure apart from a hard reset, so be warned! On the other hand, we wouldn’t mind having this vulnerability exploited whenever we’re in the cinema or library, at least we can watch movies and read in peace.
