Well, the iPhone Dev Team has spread some cheer this holiday season by announcing the completion of their software unlock for the iPhone 3G, although it will be a belated Christmas present as it will be released only on New Year’s Eve. The unlock is currently being packaged into a user-friendly application, and is tipped to be as simple as other iPhone hacking applications including QuickPwn and BootNeuter. This unlock method will be compatible with iPhone 3Gs running v2.11.07 baseband or earlier, so those who have already updated to the v2.2 firmware are out of luck in the meantime.
