New Invention Prolongs Battery Life

We’re pretty sure that many of you have experienced your iPhone or BlackBerry run out of juice during the most crucial moment – perhaps that won’t occur so often in the future especially with Atif Shamim’s invention. This Carleton engineering student actually built a prototype that prolongs the battery life of portable devices simply by removing all wires used to hook up the electronic circuits to the antenna. The new module is tipped to consume about a dozen times less juice compared to the traditional, wired-transmitter module, and its simple design will also go some way in lowering the overall cost of any handheld device. Would be interesting to see when this technology will hit the mainstream products.
