Nintendo Wii Has New Optical Drive To Stop Mod Chips

Nintendo is extremely anal about getting full control of their hardware, and hence has begun to include a new revision of the Wii’s optical drive that is able to stop existing mod chips from functioning. This latest drive revision was first discovered in an Australian model with the serial number LAH1098xxxxx, where the drive controller chip necessary for previous mods was replaced completely by a new one. It involved combining the older D1A and drive controller chip into a singular device known as the GC2-D3, leaving a spot of space on the PCB where the controller chip used to reside. It will only be a matter of time before a workaround solution is found, just like how a good cat and mouse game should be like.
