Russians Love Them Their Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Phone

While the iPhone takes the world at large by storm, Russians think differently. In fact, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset has been doing gangbusters in terms of sales, moving roughly 58,000 units in a time period of just two weeks – November 26 till December 7. To make these numbers even more impressive, confirmed retail orders until the end of the year stands at 46,000, which would translate to over a hundred thousand of these puppies making their way across Russia within a month of its release, and all this in spite of a rather stiff €400 price point. Strange how this is doing so well in the ex-Communist country. Does anyone have any theories to share?
