OLED TVs are crazy expensive no matter how many advantages it has over plasma and LCD, but that doesn’t mean the price will remain sky high in the future. Samsung will be parading its own 40″ OLED TV at CES next year, although this model is not yet ready to make it to the mass consumer market, mainly because it will cost 10 times the price of current equivalent LCD TVs. In the words of a Samsung executive, “OLED has a long way to go, technology-wise and cost-wise. It’s coming, but we just don’t know when it will be a viable consumer product.” The sooner the better we say, but guess you don’t have to put off buying that new LCD TV that you’ve been hankering after all year long.
