Sharp To Offer LCD HDTVs With Integrated Blu-ray Burners

Sharp aims to introduce a couple of LCD HDTVs to the North American market next January that will come with the added advantage of an integrated Blu-ray disc burner (perfect for recording all your favorite shows that are broadcasted in full HD) along with yet another slot drive that caters for DVDs and CDs. These new AQUOS DX-series HDTVs will come in 32″ and 42″ sizes, offering a minimal design that offer a clean-looking installation. Already available in Japan, these models come with dual digital HD tuners that lets you watch one program while recording another onto a Blu-ray disc, where a dual-layer 50GB disc is able to store 21 hours of TV in H.264 encoding and with an optimized bitrate. It remains to be seen whether the dual tuner or Blu-ray burning capability will see the light in the US.
