Sharp has finally pulled the plug on its Zaurus line of products that has been available in Japan since 1993. These PDAs reached the height of their popularity with the SL-5500 series as well as the clamshell SL-C700, but all that’s in the past now. You can’t really dwell on glories of yore without doing anything pro-active to remain relevant today, and that’s possibly why the Zaurus brand has suffered a slow but sure death. After all, convergence devices mostly come in the form of a smartphone these days, making standalone PDAs an unattractive market to be in. Does this mean old, working Zaurus PDAs are now collector’s items?
