WiebeTech has rolled out a couple of new ToughTech mini pocket drive enclosures that are able to secure 2.5″ SATA hard drives with its aluminum housing. In case it looks familiar, these new releases are but scaled down versions of its larger sibling that is able to hold 3.5″ drives. The ToughMount anti-shock protection helps absorb shock and reduce noise, offering some sense of peace to butterfingers who tend to bump or even drop their precious hard drive when traveling. Inside, you will find the Oxford-924 chipset that optimizes data transfer speeds using either FireWire or USB 2.0 connectivity. Both models will come with one USB 2.0/eSATA combo port, whereas the FS mini has two more FireWire 400 ports with the XE mini offering a couple of backwards-compatible FireWire 800 ports. You can pick up the former for $80 upwards, while the latter will begin from $120 and go all the way to $365, depending on the hard drive capacity.
