Yahoo Messenger has started to include ads in their instant messaging chat window, and according to Yahoo, “Ads in Yahoo Messenger will allow us to put even more resources behind developing and delivering valuable free features and services. Yahoo Messenger is a free service to our users, and our goal is to provide a useful and relevant experience while ensuring this is a profitable business for Yahoo. Yahoo is inherently an advertising-driven business.” Yahoo still doesn’t have a concrete plan on what to do once the initial testing period is over this month, and guess at this point in time, they need all the help they can get financially in order to stay afloat. How do ads in your chat window affect your experience, or are you unfazed after being desensitized?
