Tokyo is a high risk seismic area and finding effective ways to provide disaster prevention information is vital. Toppan Printing Co Ltd gave electronic papers for an experiment of displaying emergency information on screens installed along streets around the Toshima Ward Office. Conducted by government organizations, the operation’s goal was to verify the effectiveness of this wireless network based system as evacuation guidance for the city inhabitants. Installed in the Toshima Post Office the piece of electronic paper measures about 1×3.2m with a 240×768 resolution and a 4 mm pixel pitch for a 24 W consumption. The second one is installed at the Higashi-Ikebukuro bus stop and is smaller: 60x40cm, 144×96 resolution, 9W.
