Google Adds Transit Layer To Maps

Google is offering more value to its users by throwing on a Transit Layer to their maps, making 50 cities all the more easy to navigate using public transport. Hopefully this initiative will make the tech savvy crowd make more environmentally friendly choices, regardless of whether they are tourists or locals. Before that, Google Maps already shows directions to get from point A to point B via public transportation routes, but this time round you’re provided with a layout of the public transit system, allowing you to choose your own adventure, er, route. Hopefully this initiative will bear fruit in a few years’ time as more and more people realize that public transport is the way to go, although governments in certain countries ought to do their part to make it more efficient while discouraging the use of personal vehicles on the road.
