i-mate wants to claim the spotlight for itself at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona by releasing what it touts to be a “breakthrough smartphone”, claiming that it will be “revolutionary” and “like nothing else”. Pretty huge words to bandy about, and we’re not sure whether the audience are forgiving enough if i-mate fails to live up to the lofty expectations it has built by using such words. Heck, it might even rile the feathers of haters who will then nitpick on every single thing about this new smartphone even if it is clearly miles ahead of anything else in the market. We’re keeping our fingers crossed after consulting our crystal ball, seeing a Windows Mobile 6.5-powered device from i-mate. It will be interesting to see how i-mate’s offering measures up to Acer’s and Huawei’s.
