The ioSafe Solo external hard drive is one tough cookie that is touted to withstand not only extreme heat but pressure and cold as well. The hard drive was actually engulfed in flames at CES, and sleeps with the fishes comfortably when submerged up to 10 feet for 24 hours without springing a leak. This is something we won’t mind having, but is it really that practical? After all, how many of us have actually dropped our hard drives down the toilet bowl, or swimming pool, for that matter? In the case of a fire, the ioSafe Solo certainly shines, although one could also keep the hard drive in a fireproof safe instead (but that’s less practical).
