
Now this is interesting – a pair of iPods (presumably non-functional, of course) that has been turned into iPod speakers. The original iPods’ scroll wheels were removed as you can see above, being replaced by a pair of speakers instead. The entire DIY project cost around $100 (replacement front and back panels since the old ones had too many scratches to count plus shipping), although with a careful search done locally, the entire thing could have been completed for approximately $60. The speaker size stands at 2.25″ and needed to be dremeled a little at the back in order to fit into the iPod properly. It would be nice to see if someone could make Zune speakers for the Zune…
