iRiver WAVE HOME Communications Device

[CES 2009] iRiver lifts the curtain on its WAVE HOME Communications Device which comprises of a base station and a wireless handset that would blend into any modern styled pad seamlessly, although we do find that the handset is way too blocky and rectangle to be easy on the eyes. While the base unit comes in an inverted V form factor to make it stand on its own, the handset ought to see some curves in future revisions (if any) if it were to keep up with the times. Specially designed to be the “ultimate all-in-one solution that provides advanced multimedia, web and phone capabilities – a comprehensive communications hub that keeps you totally connected and in control at home, at the office and in your life”, we guess that pretty much sums it all. Features of the WAVE HOME are as follows :-

  • 7″ TFT touchscreen at 800 x 480 resolution
  • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet connectivity
  • Built-in Web browser and Internet radio support
  • 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera
  • 2.5W stereo speakers
  • USB 2.0 connectivity
  • SD memory card slot
  • VoIP support, SMS/MMS, widgets, phone synchronization, Flash games, music, video and photo
  • Integrated FM radio

No idea when this will be out nor how much it costs though. Would you get one for your home if you’re looking for a versatile communications device?
